The Love Roller Coaster: Why My Daughter's New Boyfriend is Crucial to Your Email Copy Success

Stop the presses--my 12-year-old daughter has a boyfriend...

And not just any boyfriend--her first REAL boyfriend. As in "we're dating". Which in 7th grade vernacular means they giggle a lot, make sideways glances, and maybe say "hi" to each other between classes.

But mostly the giggling and sideways glances part.

At any rate, she's walking on air. And I, of course, am playing the grumpy dad part to a tee, making a "People to Kill" list and putting his name at the top ("So is that Colin with one "l" or two?").

Truth be told, seeing my baby girl all goo-goo over some boy gives me mixed emotions. On one hand, I'm tickled that she's experiencing the same butterflies I felt with my first crush. There's few feelings in the world as wonderful.

But on the other hand, there's the inevitable crash-and-burn of the breakup. Could be next month, next week, or even in the next few minutes. But it's going to happen. And my heart is already aching for the pain my daughter will most likely endure.

Reminds me of what a lot of you are going through right now with your email copy efforts...

The thing to remember is that what worked today won't necessarily work tomorrow. Audiences are fickle--they toy with your emotions and make you THINK they love you...only to suddenly turn-tail and chase after the next flashy floozy, leaving you empty handed and looking foolish.

Just like a teary teenage girl who just got dumped by her soon-to-be-a-corpse ex-boyfriend.
